The Espoma Company began production in 1929 with one fertilizer called Espoma Organic. The product was a proprietary blend of natural materials. These ingredients were blended and bagged using shovels, wheelbarrows, scales and the sweat of employees’ backs. In 1997, Jeremy Brunner (Serge’s son) joined the company as General Manager. Jeremy was responsible for redesigning the packaging of Espoma’s products, and expanding the product lines into potting soils, liquid plant foods, and control products.
Today, Espoma is one of the leading provider of organic fertilizers for the retail lawn and garden industry. Espoma offers over 70 organic products and manufactures over 50 million pounds of organic fertilizer per year. This combination of hands on family ownership, quality products, and a dedicated workforce has allowed The Espoma Company to grow for over 90 years. With this combination the company looks forward to continued growth in the 21st century

Perfect Choice
I replaced my Fescue lawn with a wide blade Zosia grass. I hired a well know lawn service to fertilize as needed. I have to say that was a bad decision as over the past 3 years I almost lost my backyard and the front was struggling. They applied so many different chemicals and who knows what. I paid a lot of money for basically nothing. I did some research and spoke with people at Espoma with my concerns along with that we just got a new puppy and did not want her getting sick. I purchased 3 different bags from Espoma and applied them from early spring to mid-summer. My lawn looks better than it ever has and now as the summer ends I will be asking them for more guidance to end the year in a positive way. Also to make sure I start out early in the spring to avoid the weeds. So for our family this was a good choice and beings safe for pets and humans made me decide on trying this, Hope you have as good a result as we have. Take Care, GrandpaJake 🙂

Weeds worse than ever
We now have more species of weeds than ever before. And not a thicker lawn like advertised. Should’ve listened to other reviews.

Not What’s Advertised
This may be a perfectly good fertilizer, but the bags I received do not mention corn gluten, which I want to try for weed prevention. Instead, it’s just a plain fertilizer containing feather meal, poultry manure, and gypsum. The product image and description needs to be changed to reflect the new formula.

Holy cow this is great
My yard has been looking amazing since I spread this out. It even pushed back the lesser celandine that was creeping over from my neighbors yard. I know it works because my spreader broke and I can compare it to the grass with out it. Big difference. So I ordered more and it’s all looking great. It keeps your yard healthy enough to squeeze out weeds

Seems helpful.
This product is easy to use. I like that it’s organic and safe for kids and pets. It’s very stinky, which seems appropriate for fertilizer, so that’s fine with me. I put it down a few weeks ago when the grass started waking up from winter because I had cut it too short and light got in and weeds had taken hold. The grass is coming back, slowly but surely, so I’d say this was helpful.

Nice organic fertilizer.
I checked with the company before purchasing. I live on a lake and use this to prevent pollution in the lake. My grass is thicker and greener! I will purchase this again in the furture.

TERRIBLE SMELL!
I’ve used this brand of fertilizer before and was pleased with the results. I bought this variety since it is a ‘spring booster’ and thought this might be best for the season. It’s full of large clumps of what I hope is chicken poo. This has to be removed to go through a spreader. It smells so bad that we can’t sit outside or have the windows open. Like raw sewage. Regret putting it on the lawn and only hope that rain will wash it in and smell will go away. Buyer beware!!!
