YOU NEED A GOOD BASE FOR ANY SEED TO GROW
You need a good base for any grass seed to grow. 3 -4″ deep – smooth – seed evenly – cover with peat moss to cover – water

The best!
I like the fact that this is a combination of seed mixed in with fertilizer and has worked better than anything I’ve tried. I followed the instructions and watered 2X’s a day, using an oscillating garden hose attachment for about (10) minutes. When I planted the seed, I put a layer of peat moss to retain moisture. In about (3) weeks, I have lush, green grass. Although I thought it was pricey (what isn’t?), it’s worth it if you love a beautiful lawn.

Keep the faith!
First pic 11 days. Second pic 21 days.As a Scott it’s nice to have faith in your namesake product. I’m not going to lie, I thought that I beefed this so hard. Like big time beef. 11 days and nothing. Then on the 12th day I saw sweet little baby shoots.I’m a grown man and I wept, proudly. I used the ez hand spreader and plastered my lawn with seeds. The birds got some full ass bellies on my precious seed but my “get off my lawn” energy saved most of those sweet seedlings.I would water them twice daily singing “point of no return” by Kansas to inspire them like the proud parent I am. Once before the sun hit in the morning and once after it set. Quality time.My wife is worried but even she can’t deny the results. About 4 weeks in now and at about 2” high. It’s darkest before the dawn. Dawn being awesome seeds and grass growth in this scenario. Scott’s is good. Now go out and grow!

I overseeded with this and the grass greened right up and looks lush. There are a few spots that is still a bit thin, but for the most part it did the job. I recommend.

Scott’s Rapid Grass
This is probably Scott’s best value grass seed option for you. If you look at other Scott’s grass products. They’re mostly fillers with not but seed. Read your labels for percentage of seed. This bag is all seed with a coating of starter fertilizer. Rake seed into soil and cover with peat moss. Water daily. Grass should sprout in about a week.

Miracle grow for grass
I was kind of skeptical about this product since I’ve tried a different brand before and didn’t work so well, but I am extremely satisfied with how well this grass seeds grows. I have had a hard time growing grass in a muddy area of my backyard and this time I decided to till the area that was just dirt and used a spreader. We had a bad cold weather a week after but the seeds still sprouted when it started to warm up and had some rain. Even when I didn’t water them the whole cold week. Now that it’s warm you can see the grass growing everywhere!

Super good seed!
I normally don’t write reviews, but the description stated growth a minimum of 12 days. I got my order august 10, spread the seed a day or two later after aerating soil, watered a lot and on the 18th noticed grass sprouting well. Only on the aerated soil tho. Some soil didn’t get done as it was too hot and I was tired. Grass IS coming in there though, but not as quickly as soil that was filled with a spade. I’m so pleased with that that I ordered another bag last night. I have just a few large spots in my yard that I want to fill in, so dispersed the seed by hand. I believe some of the ‘blue’ was fertilizer, so want to apply more actual seed. Both fertilizer and seed look blue, so apply abundantly which is something I discovered. Will apply more. Good product!!

Grew so fast! Even in the shade!
We put brand new grass in last fall and it died by summer. I put this rapid growth grass on our dirt spots and it grew so fast! The picture was after just three days. Our dirt spots were gone and wha-lah! We finally had green and our back yard wasn’t as much of an eye sore! The picture was after just three days! I can’t wait to se how it looks after 21 days!

Grew green grass FAST!
The pictures show growth after 3 weeks.Went from an area that had patchy grass in around 1/2, and just dirt in half. Overseeded the patchy part and tilled the dirt.Growth started within a few days, was noticeably thicker in a week, and gangbusters after that.I’ve read some other reviews where the grass didn’t grow, and I’ve seen some of the pictures.Yes, if you just throw the seed on rock hard bare dirt, and give it a little water every now and then, it’s probably not going to grow. You do have the prep the ground. Imo more than the packaging leads you to believe. You should do a deep and thorough de thatching and cleanup of existing patchy lawn. For bare hard dirt imo you need to break it up to a depth of 3-4 inches. I also added chicken manure to most of the lawn and dirt. Not a crazy amount, but a good amount. The totally bare dirt I also covered with a thin layer of peat. Finally, you MUST water! No water, no grass! Imo it takes more water than most people think or do. I watered 4x a day, and it’s Sept so not overly hot right now. I noticed some spots that weren’t getting hit by the sprinklers didn’t grow well. Once I hit them with a hose daily, they filled in quickly.Good stuff! But you have to do your part!

Grew fast but fairly patchy
So this did indeed sprout when they said it would. They have a pic on the bag that shows what it should look like (top view) after a couple different time periods. Mine does look a lot like the pictures. The reason I knocked the star off was because so much of the seed didn’t sprout. This is a new lawn and has new soil and I personally watered it several times a day. It came in very patchy. It’s been 6 weeks now and I can still see a lot of the unsprouted seed on the dirt. Can’t imagine I did anything wrong since it grew fine in other less-ideal areas. I’ll over-sow this fall and see if that thickens it up.

NEITHER RAPID NOR PROLIFIC
I’ve lived on my .54 acres of lawn for 30 years. This is the first time I’ve tried my luck with an early October spread and as such, I can only vouch for this product’s Autumn performance. Most of the reviews of SCOTTS RAPID GRASS confirm my own results namely, poor to middling performance in the Hudson Valley, NY. THE VARIABLES: The temperature this autumn (2021) ranged in the mid-forty’s with a high of 60 and a low of 36. Precipitation ranged from ‘flood warning’ to near draught. No matter, I’ve been watering the newly seeded area twice a day for over a month–Nice sunny weather overall. The results have been weirdly ‘spotty’. Nice healthy patches grew–but this accounts for only 8% of the lawn. These random tufts look great–if you like random 12 inch diameter turf that remind me as hair transplants.BY COMPARISON: One year ago, I commissioned an entirely new septic system in my ‘back yard’. Tons of new soil was dumped and smoothed over. The contractor then tossed grass seed by hand and called it a day. Within a week, the stuff started to sprout–and 60 days later, I had a full viable lawn!LONG STORY SHORT:: While not a total dud, this $60+ investment accomplished little to rejuvenate my lawn. These seems to be neither rhyme nor reason for this spotty performance. As much as I’d like to blame the product failure on ‘human error’, I did every, short of lying down and singing the seeds a lullaby.Maybe your experience will be different. This expensive product couldn’t compete with the sack of ‘contractors seed’ my septic guy tossed around. I am more confused than disappointed.

Lawn bald? This stuff will grow
This seed will grow into a nice lush lawn. All you need to do is follow the simple directions for best results. Even if your yard is sandy it will grow with proper watering. Heck, it grew for me even when I was lazy and didn’t water it consistently at times. My yard is two inches thin topsoil and everything else downwards is sand. I had my yard ripped up for electrical service lines being buried. Filled back in there was no grass, sand everywhere trenched and yet several weeks later grass filled it all in.Stuff is easy to apply, easy to grow. Simple…throw some out, scratch it in a bit with a rake and water. Mainly just repeatedly add water and wait. It does and will grow. Not recommended to be used in winter or during a blizzard.

Does not work
Bought two bags. Used one bag. It just does not work. I put lawn soil, peat moss, used spreader for seeds per instructions, watered seeds daily. No results. Just no results. I looked at reviews after this experience on youtube and found this rapid grass just does not work. Growth of grass sees does not happen. Returning second unopened bag after a bad experience. Disappointed I lost my money to a bag of grass seeds that don’t grow.

Grows so fast!
I didn’t think I would ever write a review for grass seed but this deserves one. Live in southeastern VA for reference. After trying for years to grow grass in various parts of my yard (some full sun, some shaded) I was ready to give up and accept the dust bowl. Until I found this. I laid top soil and then this seed and raked it around a bit and watered twice a day and within 3 days I could see grass growing. In less than 2 weeks you’ll have a full patch of grass. We don’t walk on it until it’s had at least 4 weeks of growth time but after that it seems sturdy enough for light traffic (at first). I have wasted hundreds of dollars on other seed but this is all I’ll buy now. It grows in both sun and shade (even in very shaded spots).

I threw down seed twice. Patchy the first time and then filled in the next. I have had better luck with EZ seed (because you can see if it needs water or not), but this stuff is way more affordable.

Satisfactory germination rate
Seed was purchased for an area adjacent to an establish lawn where we chose to extend the lawn. Weeds were pulled, topsoil brought in and the area prepared well. Area is about 10 feet times 60 feet. Almost entire bag was used. Germination started in just under two weeks. There is one bald area it is possible the sprinklers are not covering out well it will need receded. The challenge now is to keep the area weed free until the grass Fills in. Grass was planted in the proper temperature zone and was water twice daily. I may buy another bag to fill in sparse areas

WATER OFTEN!!! It does the job.
I had a lot of dead sod and bought this seed to apply in early April. Before applying, I rented an aerator and also spread a thin amount of peat moss. I used a time connected to my hose faucet and watered 3 times a day for 30min each. The after pictures are about 4 weeks from when I seeded. I will reseed with this product in the fall to fill in the bare spots.

Very expensive, yet effective!
This Rapid 2x really works. The key is the water. You have to water your lawn daily or twice daily. I literally saw results with one week!1. Clean/ rake the area needed2. Lay down the dirt and Spread the seeds3. If no dirt, no worries. Just spread seeds evenly via the spreader.4. If no spreader, no worries. Just use you hand and scatter. (Lol) just make you every area needed.5. Optional: use rake to spread6. Water using sprinkler or use water hose (dont jet spray the seeds). You have to be diligent to see results.Enjoy. 😉

Good Product
I decided to test their claim of grass in 12 days. I hand tilled the areas that needed grass and removed all the old, dead grass (3 dogs) then spread the seed. Instead of raking it in, I simply covered all the seed lightly in soil then watered twice a day. Marked on my calendar the 12 day deadline (May 24). Sure enough, it is May 24 and all the areas I seeded are coming up in grass. It is new, very fine grass at this point so we will see if it will survive … but the 12 day guarantee is good. Will buy again.

Pictures worth a thousand words
I had a handyman over to bury a downspout in order to direct rainwater away from the house. While he accomplished his job, he also managed to do a number on the sod he dug up.Within a few days of him finishing his work, the replaced sod was just about to check out.I decided to try Scotts Rapid Sun & Shade Mix and could not be happier with the results. Within just a few days of application I was already noticing a difference. And just 30 days later, the patched spot was the best looking spot on the entire lawn. The attached photos tell the story over the 30 day period.

Extra step/s needed
The media could not be loaded.
I planted this twice. Once in the fall and the other in the spring. I aerated the lawn with aearation cleats but that was not enough. For me. The soil needed to be conditioned (tilled). I noticed after having work done on one side that they dug up and now it grows twice as fast. As you see in the video paning from the tilled soil to the untilled soil there is a difference though both had the aeration and grass seed. Its a great product when done right. I hope this helps anyone else having trouble with using this product.

I had a pool removed in June of 2023 and had a large area that I needed to add grass and over seeded the rest of my lawn. Now we have had a pretty rainy summer here in Jersey so I literally didn’t have to water it once only right after I threw down the seed. I didn’t even put hay over it. I included pictures from now October 2023 it’s nice and thick at this point but it only took maybe a month to fully grow in

Pretty good
With a little trial and error, this product worked well to fill in a large patch that was full of dead grass. I plan on purchasing another bag for a couple other small areas now that I am pretty sure I know how to get it right the first time. We broke up the earth in the area, about 2 inches deep, removed dead grass and weeds, scattered seeds and watered the area generously twice a day.

For the advertised results, WATER – WATER – WATER
This is my go to product. I received the results last year except I mowed too soon and too low and lost my crop. This year I planted early April and covered with biodegradable shredded hay. I watered 3 times a day during the early morning, mid afternoon and after sundown for about 6 to 7 weeks for about 10 to 15 minutes with the hose so I can regulate reaching all areas of my backyard. The growth was amazing to watch. I also replaced my bent up mower blade and cut at the highest setting and the grass is a bright green, thick, soft and about 3 to 4 inches high. The challenge for me now is to maintain and expand on the growth. This product does not disappoint, however as an experienced landscaper once told me, NO WATER – NO GRASS.

Love This Grass Seed
I am not the best ‘preparer of soil’. I more or less just spread this from the bag via my hand to the ground. I do water it well. This was such a joy.Came up beautifully with minimum amount of work. I got a second bag for a few more bare spots I had missed and they filled in just as good as the first batch. Cannot recommend it more highly. So happy looking out at my lawn.

Dirt yard to lush lawn!
My soil is bad. It is a dead zone of sand and clay in the lowcountry of south carolina that not even earth worms will be bothered trying to burrow into. It is highly compact and dries out very quickly. I have some massive old live oaks and a big magnolia that will surelu try to kill this yard for years to come.I tried to seed this area 2 times before this with a different brand and had zero success. This time, I prepped by adding nutrients to the top layer. I am not the type to want to use additives or chemicals or pest control. I did however aerate the soil 1st, and thoroughly. I used a manual pusher with the throwing star looking attachments. In retrospect I probably needed a rototiller.Anywho, about 3 days after adding nutrients, I re aerated the whole area and spread the seed using the recommended setting on the bag. I set the sprinklers for a nice 20 minute spritz 2x per day for the first 3 weeks. After that, I adjusted to 1 hour every 3 days. It has now been 5 weeks and 2 days and I’m giving it its first mow once the dew dries off. Fingers crossed!Side note, one of the bags did bust open in transit so this is probably a product worth picking up at a hardware store.

So far so good
Picture is 7 days in, will post updates. I used glyphosate to kill the garbage grass, waited a week. I rototilled with SunJoe TJ603e (also good) and raked it out. Used seed spreader, raked it out again and water 3x a day for 1/2 hour each. Tried to follow directions given as closely as I could in my sun and shade area, northern region. Will probably need to spot seed but stay tuned… so far, so good!EDIT: Continues to fill in nicely with just a few bare spots (see pic at 2 weeks). Raked out the spots and hand seeded. I have a small 3 foot wide strip in front which was growing slowly but got a timer to water every 8 hours and started to grow faster. Regular watering is important.FINAL EDIT: See third picture at 3 weeks. I have an actual lawn! All in with seed, equipment etc 200 bucks.

Rookie & inexperienced at best, but success!!!
The media could not be loaded.
So, no stuff… I always read news articles and other online posts, & a common comment I always see is provide proof or it didn’t happen. With that said, as entitled, I’m a rookie and inexperienced at best in planting grass or anything for that matter. I have (had) a bald spot in my front yard around a tree. It’s been that way since I bought the house a year ago. Last year, didn’t have time to address it while moving in. This year, I decided to address the issue. There are a lot of roots near the trunk of the tree and protruding above ground. So I hid most of them with rock with the intent to reduce the bald spot I needed to cover/grow grass. Anyhow, I tilled, the area first b/c ground compacted. I spread seed on Monday 4-18-2022 (see pic me spreading seed). I ran over the seed with my riding lawn mower after spreading, added some peat moss as a topping, and fertilized it with Sunday liquid starter fertilizer. I was hoping for more rain, but that hasn’t happened. Therefore, I watered twice/day, & by Friday 3 days later, grass was already growing. The pictures you see are on Sunday 4-24-2022, 5 days later. Oh, I used a drop spreader versus a cast spreader. I will update my impending success. So, if all goes well, I’ll probably need to go over some spots, but 5 days is amazing. Seeds work and I recommend!!!

GROWS FAST!
This product is amazing! I have 3 dogs who constantly run in the same spot in our backyard. There was no grass there and it always turns to mud and it’s just a big old muddy mess. I used this seed and within a week we had grass and no more mud issues. I recently had a big bush pulled out of my yard because it was covered in thorns. I saw the huge area of dirt and immediately bought this for that spot. If you’re on the fence.. don’t be. Just buy it.

THE BEST!🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
OK, I have been trying to grow a lawn both in a shaded area and in a sunny area and have used all sorts of different grass seeds, and nothing has been wonderful. Even some of the grass seed has had other weeds, mixed into it, which is a bummer! But, this grass seed has been super rocksolid. Awesome! It grew very quickly, and is super-thick, intense green! It’s producing my dream lawn and I’m even placing this seed over the top of old lawns, because I want it to look as amazing! (I just dumped a bunch of the seed right on top of the lawn and then put some topsoil over the top of it and voilà! New awesome lawn!!!✨🌱🥳😁🤩🌱✨
